It is that time of year again to Fall Back and get an extra hour of sleep. Daylight Savings 2019 starts this weekend, Sunday, November 3, 2019
The good thing about this time of year is that you get an extra hour of sleep. The drawback is that it gets darker earlier, which is not great in parts of the country.
During this time of year, it is always good to check and change the batteries of your smoke alarm or your carbon monoxide detectors. It is a good rule of thumb to change the batteries every 6 months if you do not have the 10 year battery smoke detector. Also keep in mind to change the carbon monoxide detector battery every 6 months, if you do not have a 5 year battery life carbon monoxide detector.
In Florida, former Governor Rick Scott, signed the Sunshine Protection Act when he was in office. The Sunshine Protection Act is legislation that would have Florida on Daylight Savings time all year round. The legislation can’t go into effect until this is passed in Washington.
Several states around the country are proposing to stay on Daylight Savings time all year or totally abolish it all together. Ohio Representatives introduced legislation to have Daylight Savings Time all year long. Along with Florida, they must wait until this legislation is passed in Washington.
